July 2, 1992 - Phonetics...Aagh!
Worked on phonetics today. It can be so discouraging sometimes. These sounds are so difficult. Proverbs 29:23 says, "A man's pride brings him low, but a man of lowly spirit gains honor." I need to continually thank the Lord for what He is teaching me. I need to resolve each day to have a lowly spirit and leave the rest to God. I really want to speak good Tamajaq. Patience is a difficult thing at this point. The phonetics comes a lot easier for Mikki than for me, yet she doesn't seem to share my same passion to work on this language all the time. She thinks about painting the floor and fixing the porch. I guess that is normal. I want to just bury myself in this language. I want to spend my afternoons out visiting.
Today we planted a mango tree. I tried to repair the porch. We'll see how long it lasts.
